I also can't STAND when there are complaints about racism in the comic, because anyone who complains about it don't seem to get the fact that the entire conflict of the trolls social system is the same thing as racism, just with blood colour instead of skin colour, which they obviously show is wrong as one of the biggest villains in the series is racist.
Secondly, the comic shows that doing that is wrong by punishing karkat a bit for being possesive. It's not just a male thing to get possesive over an ex, it's a problem for all people. Another complaint is that Dave and Karkat compete for Terezi, but they fail to realize two things. I can't stand it when people complain about this comic being sexist.

I could just be crazy for asuming what I just said, but I think it was intentional that Dave never rapped.Īgain I may just be crazy, and you can feel free to tell me how I'm a moron, but I just had to get this out. He also stopped using words that you hear in raps in general. I think that he changed a lot on that meteor and I can tell by one huge factor, while on the meteor and after he leaves it, he stopped rapping. Dave went from a largely isolated environment with little to no female interaction, to one in which females outnumbered males, and highly respectable ones at that. Why? Because like I said earlier, opinions are largely formed by environment. A lot can happen in three years, and I notice Dave changed too. Once he finally met Rose, Jade, and the others, he could finally start to question his previous beliefs. However, you can notice a huge change in Dave's character. Even though he knew Rose and Jade, that was only threw text, which isn't the best way to get to know someone.

Plus he grew up being raised by one person, Bro, and If we use Dirk as an example, then he doesn't exactly have a filter for the sort of language either, but the fact that only Bro raised him, he had no female figures to base his own opinions on. What we do know is that Dave listed to rap music all the time, and while rap music isn't sexist by default, a lot of it does have negative messages towards women. Now I'm not saying necessarily that Bro is sexist, that could be left up to further speculation to decide, and we're focused on Dave. i hate to be annoying but will someone add Lanque and the Twins sprites. Most early sexism in children is determined by their environments, the usual reason being a sexist parent.
People say that this is one of the reasons why Dave is internally sexist, and I think that this is a valid arguement, at the beginning of the comic at least. Throughout the earlier parts of the comic, Dave wildly uses raping and language that is offensive towards women. I recently read an article or 10 online with people claiming that Homestuck is sexist, and the most used evidence for the claim is our good friend: Dave Strider.
