Shadow of the colossus hd quick look Ps4#
This PS4 release isn't a simple remaster. Why couldn't Konami have given Silent Hill to these folks?! That HD remaster was very well-received by the general public, as have been all of Bluepoint's remasters, as far as I am aware.

I never played it because I thought the PS2 version of the game still looked fantastic and didn't need to be remastered to be enjoyed.

Bluepoint had already released an HD remaster of Shadow of the Colossus on the PS3 back in 2011. Fortunately, however, the remake privilege (or burden, depending on how you want to look at it) was given to Bluepoint Games, the veritable masters of remasters and HD collections. And on and on.īecause of how absolutely brilliant the original game is, I had reservations about any attempt to remaster or remake it, especially after the debacle that was Hijinx Studios' Silent Hill HD Collection.

To the decision to not drag down the game's pace or pollute the overworld with a single encounter with grunt enemies. To the way that Agro's independent actions, slightly imprecise controls, and occasional insubordination sell the idea that she's an autonomous living character, rather than a simple vehicle that you pilot as an extension of the player avatar.

To the bittersweet death animations of the Colossi, accompanied by Kow Otani's outstanding score, that makes you question the rightness of your actions. To the intimidating, yet majestic aesthetic design of the colossi themselves. To the immense sens of scale and grandeur that embodies almost every crevice of the game and the sheer smallness of the protagonist himself. From the desolate and bleak, yet hauntingly-beautiful landscape. Virtually every creative decision that the original team made was the absolute perfectly right decision to make. It ranks right up there with games like Portal, Half-Life, Super Mario Bros., and Tetris as a contender for the title of "best video game ever made". The original game (released in 2005 by Fumito Ueda's Team Ico at Sony) is a classic and a masterpiece of interactive art. Honestly though, what could I possibly say about Shadow of the Colossus that hasn't already said? I might as well try to write a retro review of Citizen Kane or Hamlet! I debated whether to turn this into a retro review of Shadow of the Colossus, or to focus this review on whether or not this particular remake manages to re-capture the magic of the original. PlayStation 4 (via retail disc or PSN digital download) The remake faithfully captures the magic of the original

We’ll let you all get right on that, but first, make sure you’re up to speed(run) by watching last week’s Hello Neighbor episode. Or at least a connection between that and Ico.

Now all that’s left to do is finally solidify the link with The Last Guardian. Shadow of the Colossus fans would be right in guessing that this Speedrun Fast is in anticipation of the PS4 remake, coming out this February 6. The rules for setting up that last one are pretty specific and involve creating the file, equipment usage, even your stamina gauge. Other categories for the game are, obviously, Any%, the hard modes, and Queen’s Sword Any%. In this run, a few things don’t go as planned and Plush has to switch to backup plans, but that’s par for the course in Shadow of the Colossus, partly due to the physics engine. He also runs Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus and Monster Rancher Advance. Plush is an excellent Shadow of the Colossus runner who holds first place in NTA and tied for 3rd in Any%. Take notes, you will learn something, no matter how much of a veteran you are. Skip forward to 12:05 for the beginning of the run. This is a run performed during last year’s Summer Games Done Quick, so you know it’s fresh and up-to-date on the strategies. And that stands for Normal Time Attack, which cuts out the story elements for those of you who haven’t played the game, and presents just the gameplay. This is Speedrun Fast, and the game of the name – wait a second – is Shadow of the Colossus, NTA mode.
